Antelope In The Living Room....

Is it just me or does he look angry?
His furrowed brow says all we need to know.

His yesterdays are but a fleeting memory.....
Because today....He finds himself in the spotlight.
My friend, New York Times' Best Selling Author, Melanie Shankle
has a new book being released today!

I believe I have mentioned, I am not much of a reader....
I do greatly enjoy another New York Times Best Selling Author, by The Name of Jesus...
and spend a great deal of time in His Book.
But others? Not so much.
However, this one? This one I loved.
(Yes, I had to read it, because my friend wrote it.) (Weezie raised me right.)
However, I didn't have to read it twice, but I did.
I didn't have to tell you guys about it- but I want to share it with you.

Melanie describes marriage as, "Simultaneously the biggest blessing and the greatest challenge two people can ever take on. It is the joy of knowing there is someone to share in your joys and sorrows, and the challenge of living with someone who thinks it is a good idea to hang a giant antelope head in your living room"

Dear Mel, Things could be worse.
Please see below.
 Again, I repeat....please see below

After reading "The Antelope In The Living Room" a few times- I can honestly tell you.
The pages are filled with hysterical, as well as Godly insights,
for all relationships, not just marriage.

Love is patient and love is kind....
Love....
teaches us to give grace, where it doesn't feel earned.
teaches us to swallow our pride and do the right thing.
teaches us to trust, where it feels impossible.
teaches us to forgive, when it is doesn't feel fair.
teaches us to care more for others than ourselves.
and every now and then...
Love makes you hang an Antelope in your Living Room.

I believe that God Himself gives people the gift of writing...
and He has given that gift, very clearly, to my friend Melanie Shankle.

Congratulations Mel- we are all so proud of you!
May He continue to be your strength as He uses your gifts to take all of us to new heights.

"The Lord God is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights." ~Habakkuk 3:19 / Psalm 18:33

God, thank You for all of the "antelopes" you allow us to "hang in Your living room."

In His Dust,
DCC
