Big C & The Sword...

I polled Corbin this am to ask what I should blog about and he told me....
Big C: "ummmm, probly Adam and Eve."

Me: "Ok. What should I tell people about them?"

Big C: "Ummmm....the snake."

Me: "Ok. Tell me more....where did they live?"

Big C: "In a garden and there was a tree that God told them not to eat off .
Then the snake came."

Me: "What did he do?"

Big C: "He told Eve to eat the apple from the tree. Then the both ate it."

Me: "Did they get in trouble?"

Big C: "Yup, boff of 'em. They even had to leave the garden.
Not to a hotel or their parent's house, because they are grown ups silly.

Me: "What did Eve say to the snake?"

Big C: (with a horrific stink eye)
"Eve looked at the snake and said....
What are YOU doin' here?!!!!
Get on outta here!!!"

Me: "I need to give that snake the same stink eye today."

At this point I realized, Corbin had been working real hard on a drawing, it was a sword.

I got God's Message loud and clear thru Corbin, his Nerf sword and a blue marker.
It was a reminder to put on His Armor.
"Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your
stand against the devil's schemes." ~Ephesians 6:11

The sixth piece of armor Paul mentions is:
"the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." ~Ephesians 6:7b

Unlike other pieces of armor The Sword can be used in defensive and offensive roles.
Jesus Himself, lived "By every word that proceeds from the Mouth of God"-Matthew 4:4

For each of us, It is God Who gives the victory. It is His Sword is what will deliver us.

Thank You God, for constant presence and awareness of all of our worries. I bless You for Your Word and claim it as a Lamp unto my feet and a Light to my path.

Teeny, Tiny Turtle...

I was on a walk before the storm blew in on Friday....and happened to look down and see what I thought was a bottle cap. Although it had a head and feet.

"The animals take cover; they remain in their dens" -Job 37:8

This little guy was in the middle of nowhere on the golf course,
sure to be run over by a golf cart or a size 10 Nike...
although he wasn't hurt.

I was reminded that God is in love with His Creation...
and that includes teeny, tiny turtles, you and me

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." ~1 Corinthians 1:30

God knows we have doubts...and even better, understands those doubts, fears and struggles. He even understands we often fall far short of God’s glory.
He understands we miss the mark.
Because, when God looks down at us, He sees Jesus.
Yet, by His Amazing Grace... He is determined to hang on to us.

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness...." Isaiah 61:10

God, Thank You for covering each of us with Jesus.

Dear Reed...

Dear Reed,
Your Mom and Dad asked me to be your Godmother on Mother's Day...the moment stole my heart....as have you, for 13 years. I have watched you stand up to adversity with a brave smile, as well as laugh along with all of the happy moments of your life.
As with all of your family and friends, this weekend, I watched you, through a ridiculous amount of tears streaming down my cheeks. I know from talking to you and from watching your face, as you read The Very Words of God, that this means something to you.
It was quickly evident that what you were reading and speaking, was not just rote memory that would quickly lead to a party and presents.
You read from Deuteronomy...

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out."
~Deuteronomy 28:1-3,6
The words were fitting for you Reed and as you read them- I prayed them for you.
(Truth be told, when you read in Hebrew,
I had no clue what you were saying, so I made up my own prayer.)
I prayed that you will have best friends that stand by you at all costs-
a "total protection committee," so to speak.

I echo Rabbi Stahl's prayer that you shall be blessed.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above" ~James 1:17

God, Thank You for Your Word, for best friends and for their children.

70...Face to Face....

September 5, 1942
Happy 70th anniversary to Momo and Big Con.

I can't imagine a better way to spend it then face to face....
after 67 years of not being able to do so.

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God,
and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." -1John 4:7

I feel like I know about God's Love in a very real way,
because of your love for each other.
Thank you.

"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. -Psalm 63:3

It is in your memory that I thank every service person I see.
I thank you both for your sacrifice to our country.
your sacrifice did not go unnoticed.
I love you both.

God, I bless you for Your Gift of Love.

47 years...

September 4, 1965
 Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self...
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have....
   Love doesn't strut,
(unless at Sigma Chi house circa 1964)
   Doesn't have a swelled head,
(but might have a swelled hair do...)
  Isn't always me first.
(but a dog might be...)
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth...
   Puts up with anything...
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best
Never looks back, but keeps going to the end
Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly,
love extravagantly.
And the best of the three is love.

God, Thank You for the example of love my parents have given my brother and me for 47 years.

In His Dust,
