Simple...

Religion always complicates what God has made simple.
Love God, Love one another.
"God's testimony," wrote David, "makes wise the simple."

When was the last time you witnessed God's simple, but marvelous testimony?
A long walk with your best friend?
Watching the sun blast through the clouds after the rain...

God's showing Himself...all the time...everywhere....we only have to pay attention.

"Love God, Love each other." -Jesus
Simple Simon.

God, Thank You for Your simple message...please open our eyes to see more of it.

True Christian...

A true Christian is known by how he/she treats those who disagree with them.

"Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness—faith, love, peace—joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God. Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God's servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool, working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey." 2 Timothy 2:24, 25

Easy to say...harder to do, at least for me.
I have a short fuse with people.....not all, just some.
God, thank you so much for your patience with me and the lack of it I have with others.

First Day of School...

Hey Howard Kindergarten, Meet Big Mike D.
Mikey- "I was in the front row. I even made a friend. She was on my bus....also, she's a girl."
Me- "I got one thing to say...Peas and Carrots."

*Truth by known, I prefer him to be "peas in carrots" with a different girl.
Who by the way is also enjoying her first day of Kindergarten!

ok...back to Howard...

First stroll of the Kindergarten halls and his head's in the game...
Well, until he go to the actual class.

Hmmm....Fear of the unknown.

"Fear Nothing, I am with you always." Isaiah 41:10

ALL of you.

God, thank you for being with all of us, all the time.

Nothing is unknown to You.

God's Windshield...

"Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." Proverbs 21:19
No matter what you are facing this weekend...
Try and remember Who is really driving.
God, Thank You for for being a "driver" we can trust, without needing to understand.

Preach...

Jesus isn't impressed by how you "Love to Preach."
He is impressed by the way you "Love The People"
"If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love,
I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate." Corinthian 13:1-2

"Preach The Gospel at all times -- If necessary, use words."
- Saint Francis of Assisi

God, Thank You for Your simple command...and for Your incessant patience with our lack of following it.

Appearance...

True Story-No Photoshop.
This couple had set the timer on their camera while posing at a lakeside in a national park in Canada.
Just as they were about to be captured on camera the cheeky squirrel popped up in the foreground and stole the show.
The picture was taken at the side of the stunning Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park, Canada.
Mrs. Brandts said: "We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intrigued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok...are you kidding me...how great is this?
What if God did that?
Popped up in all of our pictures.
Would it change the way I was acting or talking?
Yes and yes.
Guess what, whether we see Him or not...He is in it.
God, thank You for Your constant presence...for appearing where and when we least expect it.
My kingdom is from another place."John 18:36
God, thank you for the promise of another place.
In the meantime....please teach us to make this place better.
Girlfriends....
So, I'm chatting with Katie Bug yesterday, my precious niece/Goddaughter.
She says she is sitting with her "girlfriends" on the steps.
Me- What are they doing?
K- Nuffing.
Me- Where are they?
K- just went in the backyard to the slip and slide.
Me-How fun.
K- Wanna see what I am going to be for Halloween?
Me- Yes, and I would also like to know what the girlfriends are gonna be for Halloween?
K-(without hesitation) Hello Kitty, A Princess and a Monkey.
Me- Well, of course they are. What else would they possibly be.
K- Ummmmmm, actually, hold on, I have a call, it's the girlfriends.
Me- Well, by all means, feel free to take that call.
I walk the golf course every day…with Jesus.
Yes. With Jesus.
I talk, I sing, and I listen to Him.
I’m sure there are people that wonder who I am talking to.
But I don’t care.
I know exactly Who I am talking to and Who I am hearing from.
God, please give us the "sight" to see You. As Katiebug holds her girlfriend's hands in this picture, please teach us to hold this tight, to You.
Just Do It...
"Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like." James 1:22
I came across James 1:22 this morning.
Shortly thereafter, I was met in the parking lot by a woman coming to the church, in need of help.
We had not given her what she wanted...and she was not too happy about that.
She was hostile, rude and loud. She laid me out-yelled "You think you are so great! You think you are so loud! you think you are such a big deal!"
I wanted to blast back-"Well, actually it's funny you would bring that up...I kind of AM a big deal."
But, instead, I walked away, smiled and said a little prayer for her.
This is not intended to be a pat on the back for me, in any way, shape or form...but rather a pat on God's.
He does not ASK us to follow His Commands.
He TELLS us to follow them.
in other words, Just Do It!
God, thank you for the reminder this am. Please forgive me for all the times I fail.
I look forward to the next opportunity to put it into practice.
Friends with Change...
Make Friends With Whatever's Next
Embrace it. Accept it. Don’t resist it. Change is not only a part of life; change is a necessary part of God’s strategy. To use us to change the world, he alters our assignments. Gideon: from farmer to general; Mary: from peasant girl to the mother of Christ; Paul: from local rabbi to world evangelist. God transitioned Joseph from a baby brother to an Egyptian prince. He changed David from a a shepherd to a king. Peter wanted to fish the Sea of Galilee. God called him to lead the first church. God makes reassignments.
But, someone might ask, what about the tragic changes God permits? Some seasons make no sense…do such moments serve a purpose?
They do if we see them from an eternal perspective. What makes no sense in this lie will make perfect sense in the next. I have proof: you in the womb.
I know you don’t remember this prenatal season, so let me remind you what happened during it. Every gestation day equipped you for your earthly life. Your bones solidified, your eyes developed, the umbilical cord transported nutrients into your growing frame…for what reason? So you might remain enwombed? Quite the contrary. Womb time equipped you for earth time, suited you up for your postpartum existence.
Some prenatal features went unused before birth. You grew a nose but didn’t breathe. Eyes developed, but could you see? Your tongue, toenails, and crop of hair served no function in your mother’s belly. But aren’t you glad you have them now?
Certain chapters in this life seem so unnecessary, like nostrils on the preborn. Suffering. Loneliness. Disease. Holocausts. Martyrdom. Monsoons. If we assume this world exists just for pregrave happiness, these atrocities disqualify it from doing so. But what if this earth is the womb? Might these challenges, severe as they may be, serve to prepare us, equip us for the world to come? As Paul wrote, “These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing” 2 Cor. 4:17
-From Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear -Max Lucado
I read this- loved it- had to share it.
God, please give me courage and peace when it comes to change.
Food...
"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." John 6:27
God put this verse in my path. I am sure I have read it before, but for some reason it struck me differently this time.
"What" am I working for has become "Who" am I working for?
"Food" or "The Dude"???
God, please help me to keep in mind, YOU are my audience.
