Uninhibited...

10 minutes after the turkey was gone...
It was time for the next big thing.....Christmas is coming....
and it's coming fast!!
If only we would run towards Christ with this much inhibition.
As King David, a man after God's own heart, said,
"I will celebrate before The Lord.
I will become even more undignified than this,
and I will be humiliated in my own eyes."
2 Samuel 16:21b-22b
May we all run toward God's Gift of Christ with such excitement and inhibition!
God, Thank you for this season, teach us to "run" this way.

Thank You God...

God,
There are not adequate words and even if there were, there would not be enough time to express my gratitude and love for You and appreciation for the gifts You graciously pour into my life...day after day...night after night....for over 42 years.

I pray that this Thanksgiving, will be the beginning of many habits, to take time out of our "busy" lives to stop everything and realize that "All good and perfect things come from above." (James1:17)
Thank You Abba.
I love you so much.

Perfect...

You are a great God.
Your character is Holy.
Your truth is absolute.
Your strength is unending.
Your discipline is fair.
Your provisions are abundant for our needs.
Your light is adequate for our path.
Your grace is sufficient for our sins.
You are never early, never late.
You sent Your Son in the fullness of time and will return at the consummation of time.

Your plan is perfect.
Bewildering...
Puzzling...
Troubling...
But perfect.

It's not about the turkey...it's about acknowledging our blessings.
Thank You God, For all that you are, all that You have been and all that You will be. I love you.

Zapped...

The lesser known John the Zaptist.
In case this week has left you feeling as though you have been cattle prodded...
God has set aside the next few days just for you.
Thank You God, for weekends...for giving us time to chill out and just be, who You created us to be.

Arrrrghhh.......

Wednesday.
November 18th.
2009.
Pirates.

Are we seriously waking up with pirates in the headlines?

Yes. The Maersk was attacked for the 2nd time by....big, scary pirates....
Where is the parrot?
Where is the hook?
I think someone needs to tell the captain and crew of these boats....that they are bigger, stronger and more adapt to fighting pirates, then pirates fighting them.
Here is what the big bad pirates see.
Ironically, this is what I tend to forget when worrying about things.
My Father is bigger, stronger and able to handle ALL THINGS things that come my way.
God, Thank You for driving the ship. Please forgive me for continuously trying to take the wheel.

Small Things...

In The Hands of God, little things, quickly become big things.

Moses had a staff.
David had a sling.
Samson a jawbone.
Aaron had a rod.
Mary had perfume.
Boy had lunch.
The list goes on....

All were little things, used by God, to make big things happen.

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for The Lord rejoices to see work begin" Zechariah 4:10

What do you and I have?

God, Thank You for working miracles out of the mundane.

Surprise...

Too late, one of the Wise Men realized he'd brought his
"gag gift" jar of myrrh by mistake.
Although we CONSTANTLY seem to be surprised....God NEVER is.
God, Thank You for knowing all things....all the time...
all the places that we have been and may go.

My Favorite Veteran...

Thank you.

For leaving behind the love of your life...

Your namesake and your precious daughter, my mom.

You chose to trade it all in for our freedom.

You along with countless other veterans, traded warm and happy homes filled with love for cold and lonely, sleepless nights. With snow up to your ears and holes in your boots, you laid down your lives for us. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

God, I give thanks to You, for the life and character of my Grandfather Con Mims, Jr. Thank you for all the veterans that have laid down their lives for our freedom.

Twittering...

Started "Twittering" a while back although I am still not sold on the theory, the rest of the world seems to be.
I came across this picture laughed and then sadly realized how true it was.
We want it to be easy, don't we?
In order to be a Follower of Jesus, we want to "click" on a link,
find out what Jesus is doing,
see if there are any direct messages for you,
ask Him a question, get an immediate response,
log off and get back to your day.
Not so much. Although it doesn't have to be as difficult as we tend to make it.
Jesus Himself says, LOVE GOD FIRST, OTHERS SECOND.
If you do this, everything else, EVERYTHING else will fall into place.
Thank You God for the simple guidelines You give us. If we do this, not only are we able to follow you very easily. Thank You for following us no matter what.

Super, Fairy & Peapod...

May you remember that in Christ,
You have the powers of a super hero
You can feel the brush of angel's wings
and you will live in the comfort and safety of a pea in the pod.
Thank You God for Your Presence in our everyday lives. God bless these precious ones.

Perfect...

I was invited to a Bible Study the other day, and found myself actually considering not going, because I might have a better understanding of the topic.

Seriously!!! What is wrong with me???

The Word of God is alive and has something new for me every time I read it!

God quickly pointed my ego out to me and then made a serious adjustment.
Christianity is about relationships...NOT religion.

I am pretty sure at times, many of us come across like we know more...understand things more clearly...have the only answers...the only ways of looking at things.... the correct opinions...

God, Thank You for Your forgiveness....over and over and over again.

Muddy...

It isn't the circumstance that matters...it is God in the circumstance.
It isn't the words, it is God Who is speaking them.

It wasn't the mud that healed the blind man,

It was The Finger of God in that mud.
We all have so many areas in our lives that need His Touch. Those areas that look like common mud, He makes into a miracle.

God, Thank You for being willing to get dirty for me. May I remember to look for Your Fingerprints, as they are clearly all over my life.
In His Dust,
