Play-Doh

You know you are smelling it right now- or, you are at the very least, trying to remember the smell of it-
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven" ~Ecclesiastes 3:1
Take some time this weekend to just breathe in...and breathe out.

Muppets...

Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Big Bird and Elmo.
You gotta love the Muppets....and if the truth be told, you must love Jim Henson-since he was the "hand and voice" that was and is who they are.
Of course without him, they were.....well......furballs.
Sometimes I feel like we are Muppets for God.
What do people see? Are they just watching a show-or are they seeing what He is really like?

God, please teach me and all of us, to let YOU do the talking.
Let us show the world Your Love, by the way we love You and each other.

Words...

Yesterday, I was trying to think of some comforting words to say to a family, who tragically lost their father.
Knowing full well, there are no words TO SAY.
I was reminded by God, that there are words TO KNOW.
They are God's Words...pick one...any one...and count on it.

Management...

Sorry Darling, I have recently resigned as general manager of the universe.

Isn't it nice to know that we are not in charge?

God will be handling the problems, ordeals and inconveniences for the day and night.
Every single day, forever and ever....

Just a reminder as school begins today think of Psalm 105:7, which says-
"He's God, our God, in charge of the whole earth."

No Mystery...

Remember this game?

It was great....you spinned a wheel...opened the door and hoped it was the cute guy- and not the goober coming to pick you up for your mystery date.

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20
Open it up...it is Him and He is patiently waiting.

Ouch!

"Ouch that really hurts. Look it's all swollen"

Do you ever feel like this guy with the hurt thumb?

After all...aren't all of our complaints a little small to voice?
Surprisingly, He still wants to hear all of our concerns and worries. Although He has been through far worse....He understands...and cares!

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

The more I get to know Him, the more I realize he does care about each and every "boo-boo"

Jury Duty...

“Ladies and Gentleman, the only service demanded of you as a citizen, is your participation on a jury; a small price to pay next to the freedoms we enjoy in this country. Thank you for your service. This jury is dismissed.”

I’ve never been one who has tried to dodge the experience, nor do I resent it.
the control freak in me....would like to know how my day will be spent...should I cancel work and other board meetings for the week? My list of things to do is on hold!
It is all a reminder to me...that I am not in control-
God is....
God, help me to use this time to...
Just sit.
Just Be.
With You.

First Place!

It was a rough start...

A little advice seemed to get him back on the game.
Big Mike D, aka Mikey, who got his first trophy 2 weeks ago...has now added to the collection- but this was a big one- This was The Club Championship- This was First Place!
First place....out of how many you ask, well, I was kind of hoping to avoid this part....

There he sat at awards ceremony-He cheered the other winners on...as he anxiously waited to see if my words would come true....
Me-"Mikey, you were awesome."

M-"Yep."

Me-"I am pretty sure you going to get FIRST PLACE."

M- "WHAT! Are you SERIOUS!??? For real????"

Me-"Yep."

M- "YES!" (Yeth!)
Then the official announcement came- "FIRST PLACE in The Championship flight of the 4 hole division..."Big Mike! The crowd went nuts!! Everyone watched the shock on his face- as he ran to the trophy.

You would have thought this kid just whipped up on Tiger himself!

This reminded me of how God watches us- not comparing us to other's and their accomplishments...but He watches each one of us- as individuals- as we are all in our own flights- and He is right there with us...cheering us on!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and perfector of our faith" Hebrews 12:1,2a

Have a great weekend!

Line Leader...

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 The 9-year-old Lin walked ahead of the 1,099-member delegation, side by side with the 7-foot-6 basketball star, who carried the Chinese national flag.
The boy is being called a hero after he helped save the lives of two of his friends after China's huge earthquake.
Lin Hao was at school in Yingxiu, which was one of the areas worst hit by the powerful quake a few weeks ago.
The building collapsed while he was walking down a corridor, trapping him and two of this classmates.
Lin was injured, but managed to free himself. Then he went back in the rubble, not once but TWICE to carry two of his friends to safety.
He said: "The corridor collapsed as I was walking. Two of my classmates were trapped beside me. I tried as hard as I could to climb out, and after I had climbed out I pulled a classmate out."

Did you catch that? Lin went back in to the collapsed building a second time to help his other friend escape.
Sadly, only 10 out of the 31 kids in his class survived.
Altogether, more than 40,000 people are thought to have died, and millions were left homeless.

Lin Hao was the line leader in his class for the day-and when asked, he said-he went back, "because it was his job."

Isn't this exactly what God did??? He came back to get us! Not because of a job, but because of love. I would like to think that is what the fireworks were all about

Opportunities...

"When you speak truth, you are God’s Ambassador.

As you steward the money He gives, you are His Business Manager.

When you declare forgiveness, you are His Priest.

As you stir the healing of the body or the soul, you are His Physician.

And when you pray, He listens to you as a father listens to a son.
You have a voice in the household of God.

You and I have the privilege to do for others what God does for us."

-From A Love Worth Giving -Max Lucado

Couldn't have said it better myself, so didn't try to.
God, thank you for all the opportunities we have every day...please, make us aware of them

Haircut...

Side view of 4 1/2 year old's haircutting skills.
p.s. used to be all one length and a tad bit thicker
Mommy found evidence on bathroom floor-Good times.
D- "Mary Stuart, why did you cut your hair?"
MS- "Because silly, I wanted it to be long and pretty."
D- "so you cut it?
MS- "Yes."
D-"OK. Are you going to do that again, or will you let a grown-up do it?"
MS-"I don't know yet.Wobert likes it."
(Wobert is Robert her twin.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isn't this what we grown ups are doing all the time? Making decisions that don't make sense, (such as cutting to make it longer?) or worrying about things that God already has under control-
God is always there and if we allow Him...He takes His Scissors and fixes our mess.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness"
~1 Corinthians 12:9
Again and again, Thanks be to God!
Captain...
Who's driving the boat your on?
No need for us to try and play "captain" of our ship.
In God's Eyes, we might look as capable as these two.
We have THE Captain on board and He has been there since the beginning of time.
God, thank you for always knowing The Way...
actually thank you for BEING THE WAY.
Bubble wrap...
"Could you leave the bubble wrap alone for five seconds and look at these!?!"
Who doesn't love some good old bubble wrap?? I mean, C'mon, it is like Snap, Crackle and Pop, without the milk!
I am afraid I am one of those people who might miss God's Message because I am more focused on other things.
God, thank you for your patience, as you teach me how to hear YOU-
May our weekend be filled with a "little" bubble wrap, and "ALOT" of YOU!
