Idiots...

Just thinking of all of the latest political comments made by religious leaders around our country...including some I have personally heard locally.

Makes me wonder if they are worshipping the same God I am.

Then when I "remove the plank" I am left to wonder when and where, I am being the idiot and embarrassing Him.


This challenges me, to watch how I am acting and what I am saying- As believers, we are walking billboards for Jesus.

Solidarity...

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Under a huge tent just outside the medical unit at Camp Liberty, shielded from the blazing sun, soldiers watch and cheer as two men at a time get their heads shaved. Clumps of hair fall to the hot sand below.

Maj. Stephen Roberts, a pediatric oncologist, set up a St. Baldrick's cancer fundraiser on his new base in Iraq.

But they're not just fighting the Iraqi heat. They're showing solidarity with sick kids they don't even know.
It started with a dare on St. Patrick's Day 2000, when two guys shaved their heads to support children with cancer. Thus was born the St. Baldrick's Foundation. In eight years, the awareness and fundraising organization says, events have taken place in 18 countries and the United States, "raising over $34 million and shaving more than 46,000 heads."
Maj. Stephen Roberts knows a lot about bald heads. He's a pediatric oncologist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
The kids he guides through treatment don't seem fazed by it. "They're just amazing, inspiring kids," Roberts said. "They're going through something more difficult than most of us can imagine and they do it with a level of grace and strength that I don't think I could match."

Doorposts...

"And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and upon your gates."

Deuteronomy 11:20

In Jewish homes and businesses...this is on the doorposts, a mezuzah.

It is a constant reminder and acknowledgement of God watching your coming in and going out-

Makes me wonder what "I have on my doorposts."

Am I acknowledging Him?

Brave...

Irena Sendler, a Polish woman who smuggled thousands of children out of the Warsaw Ghetto, during the Holocaust. She saved them from certain death at the hands of the Nazis.

As a social worker, she did not have finances, nor the contacts of Oskar Schindler, to whom she is almost inevitably compared, yet she rescued almost double the number of children, about 2,500 in total. She had the heart of Christ.

The tricks of her trade were not fancy. She used tool boxes, trolleys, suitcases and old sewer pipes to smuggle Jewish babies and toddlers out of the ghetto, undetected by the Nazis. Once they were out, she placed them with Christian families.

She wrote children's names on slips of paper and buried them in jars in a neighbor's yard as a record that could help them find their parents after the war. The jars contained their real and assumed names.

She was eventually caught by the Getsapo...put in prison, brutally tortured and even avoided a death sentence.

Never once did she reveal the names...or compromise her mission, faith or spirit.

Irena Sendler did not think of herself as a hero. She claimed no credit for her actions.

"I could have done more," she said. "This regret will follow me to my death." in 1965 she accorded the title of Righteous Among the Nations by the Yad Vashem organization in Jerusalem and in 1991 she was made an honorary citizen of Israel.

"I am not a hero," Sendler said. "A hero is someone doing extraordinary things. What I did was not extraordinary. It was a normal thing to do."

They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love.

Bread...

Of course, God does nothing by accident....
and quite frankly, I think He enjoys when we just "happen" to figure these things out-

Jesus was from the small town of Bethlehem.

In Hebrew Bethlehem means, House of Bread, or what we would call "Bakeryville"

Jesus Is....The BREAD of Life.

Bethlehem, where Jesus was raised, was notorious, as the place where sacrificial lambs were raised

Jesus Is...The LAMB of God.

Coincidence??
Absolutely not.

Grass...

Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Such as grass in the front yard and their GREAT sacrifice!

God, please bless our soldiers....near and far....then and now-

Thank you for their unselfish lives- return them, in your speed, to their families.
